Touchless Elevators – Case Study

During these times of the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been lot of concerns regarding health and safety revolving customer solutions, especially how elevators and escalators can become more sterile and germ-free in order to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus, particularly as microorganisms can be transferred via touch surfaces i.e. elevator button panels.

There is an alarming fact that elevators carry 40 times more bacteria than public toilet seats according to a study by the University of Arizona. Also, it is thought that there might be 3,500 bacteria per square inch on a lift button.

Necessity is truly the mother of invention. As the whole world is battling the pandemic, so are companies striving hard to come up with innovative solutions to sustain in the new normal. Though cleaning surfaces regularly and sanitation solutions are the most easily achievable and widely employed strategies, it is no surprise that there is an exponentially rising demand for intelligent technology solutions, like touchless technology.

Elevator manufacturers have come up with a bounty of new upgrades and services, including kick buttons, ventilation units, UV disinfection systems, and touch-free technologies.
